The Grow Organic Apples Holistic Orchard Network supports and promotes “Community Orcharding” and advocates for sustainable fruit growing techniques that “emphasize orchard soil health” provide “small-scale answers that make sense for our planet and our lives.”  [Michael Phillips of Groveton, New Hampshire (the author of The Holistic Orchard, Growing Tree Fruits and Berries the Biological Way) serves as Network Coordinator.]

Walden Heights Nursery & Orchard in Walden (Caledonia County) in Vermont specializes in certified organic, heritage variety fruit trees, bushes and other cold-hardy plants for orchards & edible landscaping for home & garden, including 60 varieties of certified organic apple trees & grafts (as well as pears, grapes, cherries, plums, hops, bush & small fruit and unusual fruits).

Dwight Miller Orchards, the largest organic apple orchard in the east coast, located in Dummerston (Windham County) in southern Vermont, just north of Brattleboro, has been “certified organic” for over twenty years and also produces its own farm-made sweet cider and apple cider vinegar.

Scott Farm, managed by Landmark Trust USA also located in Dummerston (Windham County) produces over 100 varieties of “ecologically grown” apples – heirloom apples such as Roxbury Russet, Belle de Boskoop, and Cox’s Orange Pippin and unusual apples like Winter Banana and Hidden Rose. Other fruits including quince, gooseberries, medlars, Asian & European plums, pears, elderberries, table grapes, and blueberries, are available at its Farm Market open from late August to Thanksgiving and at many stores and co-ops in New England. [Landmark Trust USA is a tax-exempt, non profit corporation established in 1991 to carry on historic preservation work in America according to the model established by the Landmark Trust UK. Both organizations identify neglected properties of architectural and historical merit, restore them using traditional skills and methods, and then offer the restored properties for vacation rental.]
