South Carolina

The South Carolina Department of Agriculture maintains listings of over 100 “community-based farmers markets” throughout South Carolina, from Abbeville to Yemassee.
CLICK HERE for the Department’s listings.

The Farmers Market Coalition maintains a Resource Library for farmers, managers of farmers market, market researchers, and organizations which sponsor or are looking to start farmers markets.  The Coalition’s database of resources “were developed by a wide spectrum of organizations, agencies and academic institutions” and it recognizes “the spirit of sharing” which allows it to make the resources available in one searchable portal.

The South Carolina Association of Farmers Markets [www.facebook.com/pages/South-Carolina-Association-of-Farmers-Markets/142446982482459] supports and promotes sustainable food in South Carolina.  The Association is a “voice for farmers markets in South Carolina,” and it serves South Carolina’s small farmers “be creating and sustaining economic opportunities through farmers markets.”  It offers its members “better rates on insurance and marketing materials.”  It also serves an educational role “by providing specialized training for market managers and farmers.”
