Honey

Can a spoonful of local honey a day, approaching and during allergy season, reduce allergic reactions and serve as an inoculation against offending pollen, which causes all the sneezing and running noses? This is the opinion of Christine Lehner of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York expressed in her well-reasoned letter published in the New York Times on April 6, 2010.
Pediatrician Dr. Alan Greene is noncommittal on the therapeutic value of local honey to relieve allergic reactions to pollen while noting honey’s other health benefits.  He also voices his concern about the consumption of honey by infants:  www.drgreene.com/qa/honey-and-infant-botulism
